I'd rather have that, than give the government any more control over my
life.
The belief is spreading among both liberal and conservative elites that
government should outlaw behaviors that increase healthcare costs. It
satisfies the desires of those who enjoy telling others how to live and
those who just don't want to pay for the mistakes of others, but it's
also a recipe for turning our country into a totalitarian state.
Either we are going to retain the freedom to make a mess of our own
lives, or we're going to let the government dictate every aspect of our
existence. If we want real freedom for ourselves, then we have to be
willing to pay for the mistakes of others.
